Persistence is Key

I'm surprised by the earlier reviews. I've got two of these journals, black and red, and although the lock and key can be troublesome once you get the hang and feel of it, it's not that bad. It locks up tight too. As for the journals themselves, I love them. Seeing as it's acid-free paper, I got archival acid-free pens too (micropoint, which looks great on the off-white paper) for posterity. After I'm done with my red one, the black one is taking over. I find myself journaling a lot more, now that I have the lock and key for privacy.
Ok Journal

My Experience with this journal has not been very good. When i got it in the mail I was very excited. However when i put the key in the lock it was jammed and i could not open the journal. luckily, there was another one. The lock worked but when I looked inside the gap between the lines were HUGE!!!! I know that maybe some people like that but to me it just looks junky. Also, the first night i go to write in it I was struggling trying t keep the book open since the sides kept caving in. The leather binding was WAY to tight!!!!! Every night i gave t one more chance to see if it just was that it was new and it never changed!! i can't believe it!!!! I hoped this helped.

This product is a cheaply made product from China i can purchase the same quality at a dollar store for a Buck I would have returned it but I gave it as a Xmas gift before i examined it, my big mistake!don't be fooled that a big price tag means Quality. 20% off 40 dollars still means you paid 20 dollars to much
Cheap lock

I researched all over the internet for a journal or diary that would not look "girlish", which is not obvious to find. I guess we don't expect boys to want to keep journals! I reluctantly paid $35 for a red leather journal for Eccolo for a Christmas gift. The lock would not work from day one! Although it looks to be more subtantial than any other locks I've seen for journals, it certainly wasn't worth the effort nor the money!
Disappointing. Lock didn't work.

The whole point of this was the cool look feature. Virtually useless when I got it and the lock wouldn't work. It was very low quality and both the lock and key mechanism were very feeble and weak. Of course I didn't expect fort knox quality but at minimum something functional. A pre-schooler could bust open this lock.
