That is, those of you who thought this was leather. The ad clearly stated that it wasn't. But then, I dunno why I expect people to actually be able to READ!!!
I love this journal. There are several things about it that get me going. One is the pouch (yes, it's there; it's in the back, behind the pages you write on). I have already put several paper items in there so that I won't lose them as I journal. It's a very basic pouch, but it does the job.
The other thing is that it is only faintly ruled. The lines aren't dark and annoying. Rather, they are there enough to give you guidance in writing straight across the page but when you're done writing, it looks like you just wrote perfectly with nothing to guide you. I love that!
I also like that the pages lie flat when I open it. It's not a spiral journal, but it comes close to being that easy to make the pages settle down.
Finally, I like the magnetic flap. It allows me to keep the journal closed without a snap or zipper or other less elegant type of closure.
I highly recommend this journal! |

For those people who complained about this item, perhaps they didn't know the definition of "faux". The dictionary describes "faux" as: "not genuine or real; being an imitation of the genuine article". In other words, an imitation of leather; looks like leather. Other such examples are faux pearls, faux teeth, or faux marble, etc. It's a French word. That being said, I bought this and loved it. It's exactly as advertised, a blank journal. It's a good sized book, thick paper so you can use nice ink. I've kept a journal since I was a kid and have used many, including keeping it on computer but there's nothing nicer than old-fashioned writing on paper with ink. I loved this, found the secret pocket within the first seconds and will buy another when I fill this one up.

I bought one of these at the beginning of the year from Boarders. It is cheaper to buy them on Amazon. I love my journal and came here to get another one! Yes, it is FAUX leather look - it says that in the title so I'm not sure why other customers are surprised by this. I like this journal because it is sturdy and the front flap is magnetic and keeps the pages from warping.

This is my favourite journal. It even has a built-in folder hidden in the back. The cover flap is magnetic so it closes tight. I have given this book as a gift and everyone loves it. I can't say enough about it, just buy it and be thrilled!

The look is amazing. You feel like you are holding an ancient lost manuscript wrapped by aged faux leather covers. A manuscript which has its secrets wrapped in covers which reflects marks and scratches. The wrap shows the value of what may be written inside, the scratch marks and old looking façade is a testament that the words written inside are valuable. The words are worth fighting for as the worn cover shows its battle scars, a true testament of its effort to protect the valuable stories inside. It looks and feels like 100% leather and for the price it cannot be beat. It closes with a vault like sound that adds prestige to the words you've written inside. A sound which makes the words inside feel protected. From the moment you lift the covers to open it you are inspired by them to write with more quality, more passion, and more desire. The covers give you a confidence boost and allow your mind to get inspired and reach ideas never before found. The Wrap gives extra confidence to any writer regardless of their skill level.
Great Gift Journal!

I got this journal as a gift. It's a beautiful, hardbound journal with the look of an old-world leather journal (although it has no leather on it). Extra features include a red ribbon in the pages and a magnetic flap closure that folds part-way over the front of the book. It also has a pouch that I just discovered on the inside of the back cover, presumably to hold small momentos (though there is not room for any bulk, due to the way it closes). The nice thing about the hard cover is that it can open and lay flat, which is difficult to do with most flex cover journals. Note that there are lined and unlined versions of this journal.
A Proper Journal Means Everything

This journal is quite astonishingly put together in such a smooth and compact fashion that I can hardly wait to start writing! Having a proper journal to put down your thoughts, document your history, or even create your own stories is one of the great pleasures for those of us fond of language. Altogether, this particular journal stands as a great tool for anyone who feels the need to place ink on paper.

I purchased this journal as a birthday gift for myself. Formerly I used spiral notebooks for my journaling. I love this journal! I find I am writing more, which is great. Buy this, you will not be disappointed!
