The only good answer I know to why questions is because. This question also presumes that my world is wonderful. Is it? What is my world? Is that world mine? Whose is it really?

God’s world is wonderful. This world many live in is not, because darkness has its grip on it for the time being. It is not whether the world is wonderful, how wonderful it is, or why it is wonderful, but where I live. Do I live in the world or does the world live in me? As long as I live in the world, I am still lost in it, unless the world lives in me also, within I who is not of the world.

Without a clear, sober assessment we are merely dreaming and we can call it wonderful all we want, but fantasy does not make the world wonderful. We are only fooling ourselves by running from facing the truth within ourselves. Only a change in perspective makes the world wonderful, one radical enough to realize the world lives in us.

A step on the way toward that realization is appreciation and Louis Armstrong sang it beautifully in that song.

The juxtaposition of the cat and the deer in the accompanying video presentation on YouTube is interesting, although I am not certain it’s implied meaning really applies to this context. Does it really mean, the animals are more caring in getting along with each other across species or has nature something else in mind?

Regardless of the ultimate reason for this behavior, the implication of bringing up these images is likely, whether we reach out to our neighbor? Can we find love for our enemy? Can we learn to get along with each other without warring?

Not to worry, where the world is at in this regard. Once again a life full of wonder comes as the consequence of our internal realization of truth, not warring against ourselves and instead becoming coherent in our recognition of Self. This brings a life full of wonder.

To do that, we must investigate ourselves and release cherished opinions that are found wanting in light of closer scrutiny. The right hand must know what the left hand is doing. A house divided against itself cannot stand. To become unified in truth, one has to go beyond this or that, either/or thinking. Then life is full of wonder, rich in meaning and significance by the love we show it in earnestness and truthfulness rather than fantasy or mere make-belief.

Forget the world and make your life wonderful through sincere inquiry into who you are! The Greeks had the admonition Man, know thyself. Then the world is your oyster. Then the world is yours. Then even an ugly alleyway will be wondrous and beautiful to behold.
