Product Description |
This popular text helps students and clinicians build essential skills common to all family interventions. The entire process of systemic therapy is richly illustrated with chapter-length case examples. Rather than advocating one best approach, the author shows that there are multiple ways of working, and provides reflection questions and exercises that encourage readers to develop their own clinical style.

I am a new therapist practicing family therapy in a public agency. I found this book to be very useful and informative. The author uses the right mix of theory and practice to help you sort out what style or model of therapy works the best for you. As I read it I underlined a lot of parts that I will be referring back to as I continue my journey as a family therapist.
Excellent resource

This book is a great introduction to family therapy. It gives practical and easy to understand information along with case studies that help you learn how to implement the information. It should be required for all mental health counseling programs.
Better than what I expected...

The quality of this book was better than I expected, and the shipment was fast. Although there wasn't much of a discount the book was like new and met my needs.
A decent primer

This is an easy reading book with some great examples to consider. Taibbi shares willingly the wealth of his experience. It is a bit off-putting to read, on only the 4th page, a misattribution like calling EMDR an "energy therapy," however, Taibbi is clearly not trying to merge his tried and true skills with other psychotherapies that are beyond the scope of this work. This one is well worth the time and money spent in it's consideration.
