I got this message from the recipient's mother:
He loves it, really! well-made drawer - shelf design. It's heartwarming when he settles down industriously using his art supplies. |

| My 5 yr. old son received this for Christmas and I was very surprised to see that it does come with EVERYTHING a little artist may need to let his creativity take over. My son LOVES to color and draw and he got this from Granny who is an Art Teacher... They sat down for hours creating with the products within this beautiful -and sturdy- wooden box. GREAT companion for your little artist! |

Daughter loves it...

My daughter begged for this product so we got it for her as a birthday gift over a year ago. She continue to use it. I just wish it cleaned itself up! Many many pieces. One oddity is that the kit contains oil pastels, and for the life of me I don't know why the makers thought oil pastels were a good idea for a kid to have. (I removed them and put them in a baggie...they can be a real mess!)
The packaging is fairly durable and has held up well after a year of torture. |

| Art box comes with lots of supplies. I saw several reviews which had problems with quality of the box but the one I received was and still is fine. |
GREAT FUN!

| My 9 year old daughter was extremely pleased with this box! She loves the way it's so compact and everything she needs is right there. The only complaint is that the latches are not very sturdy, one already broke off on her the day she got it. But she looks beyond that and enjoys all the supplies she has access to now. |

Upon receipt of this item, I immediately opened it and checked out the contents to verify that it came with everything specified. I couldn't find the clips for the easel at first, but they were hidden beneath the ruler. The very first thing I noticed was the quality of the hinged closures and the hinges themselves. They are very low grade and I am definitely thinking about how long they will hold up. The second thing I noticed was that the easel is designed for use with letter size paper in the "landscape" direction. I should have paid closer attention to this, so I thought I'd make mention of it. Other than that, the few markers, oil pastels and colored pencils I tested worked great. My daughter won't get to use this until Christmas, and that's if it gets my husband's approval (which I am not so sure about)... For $40 with free shipping, what can I say... you get what you pay for... it will definitely keep my daughter busy, but I just don't know how long it will hold up and the scale of the easel is just too small for her big imagination. I think it's probably worthwhile for a child in the 3 to 5 year range. My daughter will be 6 soon and I am thinking that there is probably something that will suit her better. As I write this, I am feeling more and more confident that I will inquire about returning this item....
Note: We did end up returning this item. |
Not as advertised

| I bought one of these for each of my children (7 and 4) for Christmas and we were disappointed that this did not come as advertised. The description says it comes with 24 oil pastels and 20 crayons... Well, it came with 24 crayons labeled as oil pastels and NO oil pastels. My daughter was specifically looking for oil pastels and was very disappointed when the "Oil Pastels" just turned out to be crayons. Instead of the oil pastels advertised there were water colors in one side. I had to go to an art store the day after Christmas and purchase what was supposed to be in this set to begin with. |
